Malaysia first female VC has had her service been terminated after the end of two and a half years of appointment. Her effort on reformation and re-branding UM to world class university had successfully promoted the ranking of UM from 246 (in 2007) to 230 (in 2008). However, her outstanding performance could not award her to have the contract renewed, she was axed without proper explanation.

~sigh
when the education system is being politicized, good ppl have become scape goats..
The appointment was transient, what could be done within a short period? At least, the ranking was hiked up, can be considered as a good sign.
However, there was lack of recognition and appreciation. Also, measure of changing the incumbent rapidly is not the way to improve the status of one varsity. It is not a over night cultivation. Instead, the responsible administration should think of long term, and the effect to the related field and society.
When education is connected to politic, the development will be retarded and reverted to disaster.
